This course will focus on writing for students with intellectual disabilities. We will begin to explore SWIM (Shared Writing Instructional Model) from Kansas University. SWIM is a research-based approach to writing instruction for students with intellectual disabilities. SWIM is aligned to grade-level expectations and is designed to improve English Language Arts outcomes. Teachers use the SWIM cycle to plan, deliver and evaluate instruction.
